About Our Program

About Our Program

Elgin volleyball is a 5A program in the state of Oklahoma.  Elgin Public Schools is a member of the Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Association, and the volleyball coaches are members of the Oklahoma Coaches Association.  The volleyball program is offered to girls 7th-12th grade.  There is 1 junior high team, 1 junior varsity team, and 1 varsity team.  These 3 teams play the same schedule throughout the season.  Elgin volleyball is built on a foundation of professional and ethical standards that positively reflect Elgin Public Schools.

Practice:
Practice for junior high occurs during the school day (4th hour).  For high school, practice begins at 2:30 and will run until 5 or later.  After school practice is mandatory for high school players.

Parent Roles:
Parents are a crucial part in the success of our volleyball program.  We ask that parents are encouraging and translate positive support for the volleyball program to their daughter.  We hold parent concerns and suggestions highly, however, decisions will not be based solely on parental input. Communication is key to running an effective program, and we ask that if there is a concern, that it be directed specifically toward the coaches.  Before or after a game is NOT the best time to bring up concerns.  For the most effective solutions, a meeting will be setup on a day that there are no games.

Athletes in the classroom:
Elgin Public Schools has a strict policy on student/athletes in the classroom.  Elgin volleyball's standards are no different.  If a player is on the ineligible list(failing a class/classes), she will have extra running on top of practice for each day that she is on the list.  We want our volleyball players to not only be role models on the court but in the classroom as well.
